Statement Related to EPA, FDA and COVID-19
“Environment Protection Agency (EPA) does not currently have a standard method to assess coatings. EPA intends to post information soon that will outline the data needed to support registration for long-lasting coatings.” Such products are currently under treated articles exemption under 40 CFR 152.25.
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not cover sealers and finishes for countertops under the food additive regulations. The Title 21 C.F.R. Section 175.300 from FDA regulates materials for permanent and semi-permanent food contact surfaces, including countertops.” Such coatings are currently under houseware exemption.
