The service life of the coating depends on how much it could withstand the aggressive weather conditions including elevated temperature exposure. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) can be used to compare and demonstrate the thermal stability of the material in service. In a recent study, we have compared a solidified competing commercial antimicrobial coating in an inert atmosphere thermogravimetric analysis. It was found that 10% weight loss in competing product occurs at 227 oC while in INVESIL it occurs at 518 oC temperature. Moreover, competing coating lost most of its chemical structure at 451 oC while INVESIL lost only 6 wt.% of chemical structure at this temperature. Additionally, residual weight after 1000 oC heating in competing product was about 17 wt.% while in INVESIL was 77 wt.%. This clearly demonstrates that INVESIL is more than 4.5 times stable than the competing antimicrobial coating.

Thermally Stable Coatings for High Performance
In a testing on an INVESIL coated aluminum panel; per Boeing’s standard, it was demonstrated that INVESIL coated surface can not be burned and acts as a flame retardant shield. Besides antimicrobial activity, this coating opens the door for $114 B flame retardants market.

In another testing on an INVESIL coated aluminum panel as per Boeing’s flaming standard standard, it was demonstrated that INVESIL does not release any noticeable toxic gases. INVESIL passes Boeing’s toxicity index with flying colors. The coating cannot only provide antimicrobial activity on the coated surface but also can seal the outgassing pre-painted surface. Being transparent, INVESIL does not change, hide, or modify the original appearance of the surface.
